Goodwill Industries of East Texas, Inc. offers two types of Career Assessments.
Vocational Evaluations
The first type of Career Assessment we offer is the Vocational Evaluation. Vocational Evaluations are geared towards individuals with physical or mental disabilities. Also, an individual who has been in a life altering accident or illness and who can no longer work in their chosen field can be redirected to a new occupation.
This test process requires 2-8 days of testing and measures one’s personality, academic, work and intelligence skills, career interests and personality. These skills are determined by paper and pencil testing, computer based testing, hands on testing, and real work situational assessments. After the testing is completed, a detailed quality report is generated by a trained evaluator. The results of this test suggest possible career paths based on skills, interests, and abilities for the individual. The report also contains a local labor survey to determine jobs available in our geographical area that may be a match for the individual.
A copy of the completed report is sent to the referral source who in turn works with the individual to determine the next appropriate course of action.
Career Focus Program
The second type of Career Assessment we offer is the Career Focus Program. This is a half-day paper and pencil test that is best suited for high school and college students who have yet to determine their career goals. The report is generated by a Certified Rehabilitation Counselor, who can meet with the individual and other family members, if desired, to suggest occupations based on the student’s interest, abilities, and values. This service is available to the public for a nominal fee.
